Home Business Ideas – Innovate

I was just talking to my friend Flora.  Studying part time as an architect in the UK, she recently started a site for Fashionistas – with a goal of bringing fashion awareness to the masses. Basically, her blog acts as the middleman (or middlewoman) for fashion blogs in Malaysia, displaying the goods of different boutiques so shoppers can have a wide catalogue of clothes and jewelry to choose from.

Me trying to model a shirt from my friend’s shop saltyskins.com :P

I asked her, “So how does your site generate revenue?” She told me that she plans on selling ad space. That is a good idea for her business, as her site would be able to draw advertisers who want to promote their fashion products to the masses.

I see alot of potential in her website. I’m not trying to promote her site or anything. But over here i would like to make an illustration of good innovation. There are many ways one can monetize through his/her blog. Selling ad space was a good idea, but she could also profit from Affiliate Marketing. Promote other fashionista’s products to get a cut. Also, she can start a mailing list providing fashion tips. Then she could sell products to her subscribers. You see, there’s more than one way to make money and you (yes, you) should really take advantage of every single way you can profit from your website.

How else can you increase profits from your home business? Think about it. Try applying all the techniques from my free report to see if you can improve on your business model.

Change your life, before you know it’s too late.

I have got something important to tell you today. Pay attention closely.

As you know, previously I led a rather unfulfilling life. Working 8-5 shifts 6 DAYS A WEEK at the local hospital pharmacy. I’m sure you’ve heard of the horrors of demanding customers, rude doctors, mental patients, work hazards (Its a hospital food goodness sake!). You get the deal.

-

I asked myself: “Is this all my life has to offer me??”. I couldn’t even take a holiday break for more than 2 days. When my friends  tell me all about their exciting journeys traveling the world… I felt like punching a brick wall. Have you ever been in the same situation? I hated my job. I hated the fact that despite studying hard for 4 years with many sleepless nights just to get that darned piece of paper, I was stuck in a lousy, dead end job paying me less than what I should be earning. One day, when I was having dinner with my brother after basketball, I asked him how much was he earning. His next words literally blew my mind away.

He was earning thousands of US dollars SITTING in his pyjamas. To give you an idea, double my salary just sitting at home. And that was just his autopilot income.

-

Enough was enough.

I decided to take action. I decided that I wanted to start a profitable business from the comfort of my home. I never wanted to sweat in the aircond-less pharmacy dealing with patients coughing in my face day after day and getting sweared at by doctors who didn’t know any better than me.

After months of experimenting and coaching from my brother and my friend (both experts at internet marketing), i’ve finally mastered the blue print to starting a home business. The good news is, I understand a lot of people, day after day, are going through the same frustrations as I am. Go to college, get a degree, and work for the rest of your life. Others might not be as lucky. There are victims of the recession that  find it hard to even put bread on the table!  I’m not saying that conventional working environment is bad. But ask yourself this…  Do you want a better life for yourself?

If Yes is your answer, then I suggest you take action immediately. Download the Blueprint To Starting A Home Business. It will change your life.

Joke-A-Day Model

Nowadays with everyone striving so hard to earn money using proven methods, most of the markets have become saturated. Rarely do people actually come up with fresh new ideas to make money.

A while back however, there was one guy who came up with the A-Joke-A-Day model. In this model, people would sign up to this person’s mailing list to receive 2 jokes every two days. The jokes would be posted on the person’s website and the subscribers just had to click on the link sent to their emails to view the joke. In no time, he had a huge list and more and more people were visiting his site.

Then, he simply placed a few ad boxes in between his jokes for potential advertisers. The upside to this model was that he got plenty of traffic without much effort (just find 2 jokes every other day). He took his site to another level when he allowed subscribers to submit jokes of their own, thus eliminating more of his own workload. Ingenius!

The downside was that his traffic was not really targeted and not many people would want to advertise unless their product was about how to make people laugh.

But think for a moment, how could YOU improve on that model to make it even better?

Affiliate Marketing As A Home Business

True or False Question: You MUST have your own product if you want to make money online.

Answer: FALSE.

Thats right. And that’s what affiliate marketing is all about. Making money off your business partner(affiliate)’s product. All you have to do is advertise your affiliate’s product using the resources will be provided by them (banner ads, text links).  You can market their products almost anywhere – from your blog, promoting them through your mailing list, as a backend link through your products if you have one.

The downside is, you will need a good mailing list or a heavy traffic site if you want to make money this way. Which you would have to work hard for – money doesn’t fall from the sky. Also, your list should also be somewhat targeted to your affiliate’s products to increase the likelihood of them buying.

“Great! I wanna make some money NOW!”

Slow down cowboy. As I mentioned earlier, you need a list or blog full of readers. There are many affiliate programs you can join. One of them is ClickBank. Just sign up and you can start selling their products immediately. Note: Different products have different commisions so its good to go check it out first.

Another way is to approach other Internet Marketers or Home Business Owners. I’m sure many would be interested in increasing their sales even if they have to pay you 50%, its still a win-win situation as you both still get cash! The best way is to drop them a personal email and get in touch with them. You will be given an affliliate link where any sales made through that link will give you a commision.

The truth about networking

Working online may seem different from the outside world, but actually there’s alot of similarities between the two. I remember one night when I was working in a hospital with a colleague of mine. We were both working a late night shift dispensing at the pharmacy. In practice we wouldn’t usually have good relations with the patients as they would expect to ’special treatment’ everytime they see you. But my friend was an exceptional man. He had a flare for networking and seemed to have no problem being nice to everyone he sees. Because of that, he managed to secure a spot and get a discount at the pre-launch of Honda’s new City Car Model.

In comparison with the online world, its somewhat similar. You have to have good relationships with your customers if you want them to come back for more. Don’t just sell them whatever you’re selling without establishing that human link with them. Even if they don’t buy your product, they can still be a potential business partner (affiliate marketing, anyone?)

Global Crisis Spurs Home Business Growth

Malaysia says 30,000 jobs lost amid global crisis

A Malaysian minister said Thursday that more than 30,000 local and foreign workers had lost their jobs this year amid the global slowdown.

Deputy human resources minister Maznah Mazlan told state news agency Bernama the figure of 30,650 comprised 23,149 workers who were laid off, while the rest resigned. There was no explanation why so many had quit.

The latest figure came after a labour group said late March that more than 26,000 people had lost their jobs in 2009 as employers are forced to cut back under pressure amid the worst global financial crisis in decades.

An economist said the unemployment rate is expected to go up in the coming months but remained positive that it will be lower than the official 4.5 percent projected for this year. Unemployment for 2008 was 3.7 percent.

“It hasn’t reached an alarming level,” Yeah Kim Leng, an economist with ratings agency RAM Holdings, told AFP.

“We expect the number to rise 50,000 further by year end but given the improving outlook in industrial production as well as some stabilisation in global demand, it may not reach the 4.5 percent by year end,” he added.

The government in March unveiled a stimulus package worth 16.2 billion dollars but warned the export-driven economy could still shrink by 1.0 percent this year.

An independent think-tank, however, said Wednesday that Malaysia’s export-driven economy will shrink by 2.2 percent this year, citing gloomy business and consumer confidence.

Official data released Thursday showed Malaysia’s manufacturing sales, which are a key driver of the economy, dived 26.1 percent in February from a year earlier while people employed in the sector fell 6.5 percent from a year ago.

Internet Marketing, anyone?

Sorry for the lack of updates… I’m in the midst of preparing something juicy for you guys :) Something anyone planning on starting a home business must have.

Right, today i’m going to talk about another home business, probably one of the most common home businesses people are choosing today. It’s quite competitive compared to niche markets, but its competitive because there’s alots of money there. You guessed it guys – Internet Marketing.

In short, you are teaching people how to make money using the internet. It could be teaching them how to start up an internet business, teaching them how to increase profits by using certain marketing tactics or by leveraging on other sites (social networking sites).

Now if you go to google or any article website such as ezine and search ‘internet marketing’, you are bound to find an extravagant amount of information. I’m not going to go into the mechanics of internet marketing cause there’s probably like a billion sites out there with different techniques. But what I want to say is in order to stand out from the crowd, you must know how to INNOVATE. Be different, experiment with new things, you never know, you might be able to invent something new which could probably make you a millionaire. But due to its competitiveness, I suggest newbies to start out with freelancing or niche marketing first to get the hang of things. That way you can pickup on alot of internet marketing strategies which would be useful if you want to go into that field in the future.

Niche Marketing as a home business

Here’s another very popular home based business of interest. Are particularly good in a certain skill (E.g fishing)? Consider using the power of the Internet to sell an e-book teaching people how to fish like a pro.

### If that’s your cup of tea, here’s a few steps to get you started. ***

1.) Get a suitable domain named – www.namecheap.com
HOT TIP: use hot keywords for your domain name
HOT TIP #2: Preferably choose .com over .net/.org/.info

2.) Get a good host such as dreamhost.com and go to wordpress.org and download and install wordpress. Upload your site to your host.

3.) Start blogging about your topic of interest to get visitors to your site

4.) Get the visitors to your site to join your mailing list – www.getresponse.com

5.) Once you got people in your mailing list (leads) you can pitch your offer to them (i.e your product) to cash in.

Thats just a rough overview of how to start a homebusiness based on your Niche of Interest. The part you should focus on is getting traffic to your site and also building your mailing list.

Home Based Businesses Vs Conventional Businesses

Imagine this – In a conventional business, you have to pay for shop rental, furniture, equipment, labor, water and electricity, insurance etc which can cost you maybe thousands of dollars a month. Where as in an online business from home, you only pay for “shop rental” (hosting and domain name), decor (website design?), advertising and maybe a few other things like an automated email responder. The cost? much less! It doesn’t take a genius to tell you which business is easier to start up.

Furthermore, I really prefer the comfort of a home based business. You can work from home in your pyjamas and you can earn money while your doing your “business” in the toilet.

Ok, since this blog is about Home Businesses, my views might be abit biased :) What do you guys think?
