Case Study: Honestees, A Mom’s Home Business

Even the folks from the golden era have started embracing technology. Today i’m gonna talk about one whose none other than my lovely mum- Deborah.

She started a blog to sell away some of my old, unworn clothes. Some are still of good quality.

In a weeks time from the announcement of her blog, she has already made 3 sales. Not bad for someone just starting out at the internet! It just goes to show that if you have good, honest content, people will be more likely to respond, because they can relate to it.

To sum it up – The site adopts a unique approach to selling Tees. In contrast to your typical hot girl selling clothes on a blogshop, a mom sells her sons old clothes which have been cluttering up the closet. Payment is via electronic transfer of funds to her bank account and she will deliver the clothes by post. She imbues a straight-to-the-point, aunty-talk style into her blog posts with a tinge of humour.

How can you apply this to your home-business?

People make decisions based on emotions, not logic. If your home business can reach them at a emotional level, such as my mum’s attempt of clearing her son’s clothes, you will be more likely to make a sale rather than to just state plain facts to them. Try to write a story about your blog, why you are doing it and talk a little about yourself, that way, people can somehow relate to you.

Private Label Rights – What is it and what do you do with it?

For those of you venturing into Internet Marketing, I’m sure you’d have come across the term Private Label Rights.

So what the heck is a Private Label Right (PLR) ? Sounds like a porn site.

No, silly. Millions of bucks are made through PLR. Basically, if you own a PLR product, you can claim the product as your own, you can edit it anyhow you like, and the best part – You can say that it was made by you. This is really good news for those who don’t know how to make your own E-book or product.

Great! So where do I find PLR products?

As far as I know, Edmund is a guru at PLR and he offers top quality products for yo to expand your business. You can also get free PLR products at free give-aways which you can claim as your own.

This sounds too good to be true! My own product without having to lift a finger?

Slow down, cowboy. Because it is a PLR product, this means that ANYBODY can have the same product as you. Therefore, you need to change/edit the content, spice up the product abit before you wanna sell it. Also, most PLR products are of average quality and lacks your personal style. Thats your job! Change and tweak the PLR to become YOUR product, then you can sell it or offer it for free to build your mailing list – whatever suits your needs.
