I was watching the final episode of Fresh Meat season 2. Its about a reality TV show where contestants (one male + one female per pair) are put through a series of physical and mental tests to win prize money. As the grand prize for the winner in this episode was a hefty one ($100,000 USD), the true colours of the dominant males came out.
In one of the pairs, the male partner was hounding, scolding and screaming at his female counterpart for not giving 110%. Conversely, in another pair, the male was supportive, motivating and understanding.
At the end of the race, the understanding pair became the victor and the other pair – defeated. This really made me wonder, do we sometimes treat out partners like rubbish in times of pressure?
The pressure of work or tension of not having your goals achieved may cause us to feel angry, frustrated and tensed. But our loved ones don’t deserve such a treatment. Our loved ones are the ones who have been supporting us, listening to us and giving us a shoulder to lean on in times of hardship, and we should always strive to treat them like how we would like to be treated ourselves.
